It can be difficult to figure out how much to feed your dog as there are many factors to consider. Understanding what size portion to offer your dog depends on the type of food they eat, how many times of day they typically like to eat, their size and breed, and the amount of exercise they usually have. Just to name a few. Dogs have a large expandable stomach, allowing for a large meal to be consumed once or twice per day and in comparison, a cat’s stomach is much smaller and requires small frequent meals throughout the day. To help you get started we’ve put together the following guidelines, however it’s always best to consult your vet if you’re unsure.
Like all dog and cat foods, if you are thinking of switching your pet to a new diet, please exercise the 7 day transition switch starting with 80% current food, 20% new food and switch to 10% more new food in each day over the 7 days. This applies to any diet changes for dogs not just grain free diets.
