A balanced diet is important for your pets overall health and ensures they receive optimum nutrients without becoming under or overweight. The type and amount of pet food needed will depend on their breed, age, weight and activity level. We have put together useful feeding guidelines for our WCF Select cat and dog food range to help you decide on the right amount to feed your pet.
Cats need a meat-based diet to stay fit and healthy, therefore a vegetarian diet is not recommended. Meat provides the nutrients Taurine and Arginine which your cat needs to function. They are unable to make these themselves but the nutrients are available from the meat they eat.
Cats have smaller intestines compared to dogs so naturally eat several small meals per day. It is also worth noting that a neutered cat tends to need a diet that is lower in fat to keep them fit and healthy. Always consult your vet if you are unsure. The RSPCA also have lots of useful information on suitable diets for your cat.
The table below shows an example of how much to feed your cat on a WCF Select cat food diet.
Dogs are omnivores, which means they can eat both meat and plant-based foods. Most dogs are fed twice daily, but those who have difficulty absorbing nutrients or maintaining weight may benefit from being fed several small meals per day.
Pet food manufacturers usually have different feeding guidelines which are based on the composition of their dog food. Below we have put together a guide recommending how much to feed your dog on a WCF Select diet.
